Glossary of Terms
Direct thermal – this is when your printer directly heats the image to the label or tag with no ribbon
Thermal transfer – this is when your printer need to use a ribbon to transfer the image to the label or tag
Conventional labels – this are the technical term for price gun labels.
Standard Adhesive – this is our regular adhesive sometimes called permanent
Removable Adhesive – this is a label that will remove easier off products, used on glass wear mostly
Price gun labels – this is a more used term for labels used in a price gun.
Security Slits – This is little cuts in the label in case someone tries to take off the label it will tear apart
No Security Slits – This is a label with no cuts in it.
Ink Rollers for price guns – these are ink rollers that are to be replaced when your ink gets light, usually about every sleeve of labels.
Label scraper – this is an instrument that will help scrap off any adhesive on an item.
Thermal Receipt paper – this is a paper that goes into a credit card machine or register that does not require a ribbon, it uses heat to print the image
1 Ply Bond Receipt paper – this is a paper that would require a ribbon to make the image
2 Ply Bond Receipt paper – this is a paper that usually has a white/yellow copy and would require a ribbon to be used in the printer.
Attachment Guns – these are guns with needles to attach to a clothing or fabric with an attacher barb
Attachment Barbs – these are plastic attachments that work with the attachment guns to attacher tags to products
Attachment Needles – these are needles that are used in the attachment guns to push the plastic attachment with the tag through the fabric
Sign Cards – used to display special sales to attract your customers
String tags – tags that hang with string off your product, you can also have no strings
